What is Scaling and Root Planing?

Scaling and root planing may take more than one visit to Roseville Topsmiles and, in some cases, a local anesthetic will be used to minimize any discomfort. During the scaling and root planing procedure with the experienced and caring team at Roseville Topsmiles, your teeth will be thoroughly scaled above and below the gumline to remove all plaque, bacterial toxins and tartar deposits from your teeth and root surfaces.

After this scaling is complete, the root planing is done which smoothes all rough areas on the roots' surfaces to help prevent future buildup.
